BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California reclaims the position of the No. 1 team in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 6/February 26 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls for the 2020 season.
California Lutheran University (Division III) and the University of Michigan (CWPA Top Five) continue to lead their respective rankings, while Macalester College gains company at No. 1 in the CWPA Division III Top Five from Austin College.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
2020 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 6)
On the heels of a 10-5 victory over defending National Champion and previously No. 1-ranked Stanford University, the University of Southern California returns to the lead position in the Week 6/February 26 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.
USC (100 points), which rates as a unanimous No. 1 selection, returns to the No. 1 position following a two week (Week 4, Week 5) reign by Stanford. USC previously stood at No. 1 in the Preseason, Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 polls prior to the ascension of the Cardinal.
Stanford (95 points) slips back to No. 2 and drives the University of California-Los Angeles (93 points) and the University of Hawaii (88 points) both back one space to No. 3 and 4, respectively.
The University of California-Irvine (84 points) and Arizona State University (79 points) exchange the No. 5 and 6 berths, while the University of Michigan (77 points) improves three spots to take over at No. 7.
The University of California (70 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (70 points) fall and rise to tie at No. 8 with the University of California-San Diego (64 points) completing the Top 10.
Fresno State University (58 points) remains at No. 11, Loyola Marymount University (50 points) jumps four spots to No. 12, San Jose State University (48 points) and Indiana University (45 points) retain the No. 13 and 14 slots and Long Beach State University (44 points) backs up to No. 15.
San Diego State University (42 points), Harvard University (36 points), the University of California-Davis (34 points) and Wagner College (27 points) readjust to stand at No. 16-to-19 in front of Princeton University (24 points) and California State University-Northridge (24 points) who are tied at No. 20.
Bucknell University (16 points), University of the Pacific (14 points), Marist College (6 points) and California Baptist University (5 points) complete the Top 25 at No. 22-to-25.

California Lutheran University remains the lead team in the Week 6/February 26 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
Cal Lutheran (99 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (96 points), Whittier College (88 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (86 points), the University of La Verne (80 points) and the University of Redlands (72 points) persist at No. 1-to-6, respectively, with Chapman University (71 points) and Macalester College (53 points) trading the No. 7 and 8 spots.
Occidental College (49 points) slips in front of Austin College (48 points) to take over at No. 9 and complete the Top 10.

Defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion the University of Michigan remains the top team in the Week 6/February 26 Women’s Varsity CWPA Top Five Poll.
Michigan (100 points) retains its previous status as a unanimous No. 1 selection as the Wolverines lead a Top Five which experiences no changes from the Week 5 voting.
Harvard University (94 points), Princeton University (89 points), Bucknell University (87 points) and Brown University (80 points) complete the Top Five by staying at No. 2-to-5 for another week.

2020 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 10 (Week 6)
Macalester College acquires company at No. 1 in the Week 6/February 26 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Top Five Poll as Austin College ties the Scots.
The tie marks the third time this season Macalester (97 points) and Austin (97 points) are equals as the Scots and Tigers were previously squared in the Week 1 and 3 voting. Macalester, which held solo status at No. 1 in the preseason, Week 2, Week 4 and Week 5 polls, joins Austin in leading a CWPA Division III Top 5 Poll which experiences shifts following the start of the season for multiple teams.
Wittenberg University (91 points) rises from the ranks of receiving votes to No. 3, while Carthage College (50 points) and Grove City College (49 points) remain at No. 4 and 5.
