2021 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the league’s 2021 Women’s Division III schedule following approval by the administrators at Carthage College, Connecticut College, Grove City College, Macalester College, Penn State Behrend, Utica College, Washington & Jefferson College and Wittenberg University.
Competition begins on Saturday, March 13, as Utica in Utica, N.Y., hosts Penn State Behrend and Connecticut College for three games in the Empire State, while Grove City in Grove City, Pa., hosts Wittenberg and non-conference institution Mercyhurst University for three games in the Keystone State.
A week later, three sites will host games as Utica travels to Connecticut in New London, Conn., for a pair of contests on Saturday, March 20, while Washington & Jefferson in Washington, Pa., hosts a single game against Grove City. In Springfield, Ohio, WIttenberg hosts Penn State Behrend and Carthage in a three game set.
The CWPA Division III season kicks into full gear during the weekend of March 26-28, with 13 games at four sites.
The Tigers of Wittenberg will host Carthage on Friday, March 26, while Washington & Jefferson travels to Grove City.
On Saturday, March 27, Carthage and Wittenberg come to Grove City for clashes with the Wolverines, while Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pa., serves as the site for games between the Lions, Washington & Jefferson, Austin and non-conference institution Gannon University.
Mercyhurst and Grove City joins the fracas at Penn State Behrend on Sunday, March 28, as the Lakers, Wolverines, Austin and Lions battle in four games. In addition, Washington & Jefferson hosts Carthage in a single game.
The regular season concludes on Friday-Sunday, April 9-11, with 11 games.
Carthage and Macalester meet for two games in Kenosha, Wisc., on Friday, April 9, prior to the Scots hosting Carthage for a pair of games on Sunday, April 11, in Saint Paul, Minn.
Penn State Behrend will serve as the major site of the weekend’s docket as the Lions host Grove City, Austin, Washington & Jefferson and Wittenberg for seven games on Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11.
The 2021 CWPA Division III Championship will be decided on Saturday-Sunday, April 17-18, at Carthage as Austin, Grove City, Penn State Behrend, Wittenberg and the host team contest a six game championship event.
In the history of the CWPA Division III Championship, Grove City (2010, 2011, 2012), Connecticut (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016) and Macalester (2017, 2018, 2019) have claimed the league title with the 2020 season lost to the COVID-19 pandemic.
