Collegiate Water Polo Association Releases 2021 Women’s Varsity Week 14/May 12 Top 25 Poll

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California enters this week’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Water Polo Championship as the top-ranked team as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Week 14/May 12 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll. 

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the national polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.

2021 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 14/May 12)

The University of Southern California stays a unanimous No. 1 pick in the Week 14/May 12 Women’s Varsity Top 25 Poll.

USC (100 points), which rolled to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship by dispatching Arizona State University (16-8 W) and Stanford University (9-6 W), leads the poll as the first six positions remain unchanged from the Week 13 voting.  Stanford (96 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (93 points), Arizona State (87 points), Big West Conference Champion the University of Hawaii (83 points) and the University of California (81 points) remain at No. 2-to-6 behind USC.

Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion University of Michigan (74 points) assumes sole possession of the No. 7 slot after tying with the University of California-Irvine (73 points) for the position last week.  UC-Irvine, the University of California-San Diego (68 points) and Golden Coast Conference Champion Fresno State University (64 points) complete the Top 10 at No. 8-to-10, respectively, while the University of California-Davis (60 points) holds at No. 11 for another week.

Long Beach State University (52 points) and San Diego State University (52 points) move into a tie at No. 12, while the tandem of University of the Pacific (48 points) and Indiana University (48 points) stay deadlocked at No. 14.

San Jose State University (40 points), California Baptist University (35 points) and Loyola Marymount University (32 points) retain the No. 16-to-18 berths, while Bucknell University (24 points) breaks out of a tie with Azusa Pacific University (23 points) to acquire sole control of the No. 19 spot this week.

Azusa Pacific, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Champion Marist College (22 points), Santa Clara University (14 points), Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Champion Salem University (11 points) and La Salle University (9 points) hold down the No. 20-to-24 slots with the quartet of Saint Francis University (2 points), Austin College (2 points), Long Island University (2 points) and Concordia University (2 points) wrapping up the Top 25 with a tie for the final position.
