2022 Men’s Collegiate Club Sierra Pacific Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Men’s Collegiate Club Sierra Pacific Division schedule.
Comprised of California State University-Chico, California State University-Monterey Bay, California State Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime), San Jose State University, Stanford University, the University of California, the University of California-Davis, the University of California-Merced, the University of California-Santa Cruz and University of the Pacific, the Sierra Pacific Division will contest its 11th season in the CWPA with UC-Santa Cruz (2011), California (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021) and Cal Maritime (2019) combining to claim all 10 previous championship titles. The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Action commences on Saturday-Sunday, October 1-2, at Cal Maritime in Vallejo, Calif., as California, San Jose State, UC-Davis, UC-Merced and the host Keelhaulers clash in 10 games. A week later, UC-Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, Calif., hosts Chico State, Pacific, Cal State-Monterey Bay and Stanford for another 10-game event.
The regular season comes to a close on Saturday-Sunday, October 15-16, back at UC-Santa Cruz as the Banana Slugs host all 10 Sierra Pacific Division teams for a 20-game weekend. Due to the number of games, contests will utilize six-minute quarters with no overtime and one timeout her half for each team.
The results from the trio of regular season tournaments establish the seeds for the 15-game Sierra Pacific Division Championship penciled in for Saturday-Sunday, October 22-23, at Cal Maritime.
The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2022 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by an institution in the Northwest Division on Friday-Sunday, November 11-13. Further, the team which finishes in the middle of the final Sierra Pacific Division standings will have the opportunity to compete at the inaugural National Invitational on a date and at a site to be determined against teams that claimed the top spot in the lower half of their divisions.
