BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 1/September 22 Men’s Collegiate Club Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Polls for the 2022 season.

Released each week during the season, the Top 20 and Division III Top 10 polls have no bearing on qualifiers for either the National Collegiate Club Championship or the Division III Collegiate Club Championship.

2022 Men’s Collegiate Club National Top 20 (Week 1)

The University of California-San Diego takes over at No. 1 as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 1/September 22 Men’s Collegiate Club National Top 20 rankings.

UC-San Diego (94 points) – which fell in the 2021 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship title game – dislodges defending National Champion Michigan State University from the top spot. The University of California (87 points) climbs to No. 3, while the University of Michigan (87 points) takes over at No. 4 on the strength of a victory versus Michigan State.

Washington University in St. Louis (84 points), San Diego State University (80 points), Michigan State (76 points), the University of Southern California (73 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (64 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (61 points) and McKendree University (54 points) round out the Top 10.

The University of Colorado (45 points) remains at No. 11 with the trio of California Polytechnic State University (39 points), The California State University Maritime Academy (39 points) and Pennsylvania State University (39 points) tying at No. 12.

The University of Texas (32 points), Florida State University (30 points), the University of Pennsylvania (23 points), Boston College (11 points), Cornell University (8 points) and Texas A&M University (7 points) complete the Top 20.

The 2022 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship will be decided in a yet to be disclosed site in the Northwest Division on Friday-Sunday, November 11-13.

2022 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club National Top 10 (Week 1)

Seven-time defending Division III Collegiate Club National Champion Washington University in St. Louis remains No. 1 in the Week 1/September 22 Men’s Division III Collegiate Club National Top 10 Poll.

The 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 Division III Collegiate Club Champion, Washington in St. Louis (100 points) is coming off a 2021 season in which the team finished third at the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship. The Bears did not claim the Division III National Championship last year as the event was canceled due to a lack of pool availability on a Division III campus or in the community surrounding a campus.

Grinnell College (91 points), New York University (90 points), Macalester College (82 points), Bowdoin College (79 points), the United States Coast Guard Academy (71 points), Colby College (68 points), Carnegie Mellon University (66 points), Tufts University (58 points) and the University of California-Santa Cruz (51 points) round out the Top 10.
