BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of California-Los Angeles becomes a unanimous top selection as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Week 5/February 23 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, the University of Michigan and Austin College also continue as the top-ranked teams in the Division III Top 10,  CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.

2022 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 5)

The University of California-Los Angeles picks up two additional points to rate as a unanimous top selection in the Week 5/February 23 National Top 25 Poll.

The Bruins (100 points) hold a four-point lead over No. 2-ranked the University of Southern California (96 points) as USC surpasses the University of California (92 points) to assume the runner-up position.

California drops back to No. 3 with Stanford University (88 points), the University of Hawaii (84 points), the University of Michigan (80 points), the University of California-Irvine (76 points), Fresno State University (72 points), Arizona State University (68 points) and the University of California-Davis (64 points) remaining steady at No. 4-to-10, respectively, to complete the Top 10.

The University of California-San Diego (56 points) surpasses San Jose State University (53 points) to take over at No. 11 with Long Beach State University (52 points) and Wagner College (49 points) holding on at No. 13 and 14.

The University of California-Santa Barbara (39 points) moves up one place to supplant University of the Pacific (36 points) at No. 15, while Indiana University (35 points), Loyola Marymount University (34 points), Harvard University (27 points), Princeton University (26 points), San Diego State University (17 points) and Long Island University (16 points) retain their previous rankings at No. 17-to-22.

California State University-Northridge (15 points) takes over at No. 23 with Brown University (12 points) and Marist College (10 points) rounding out the Top 25.

2022 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 5)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continues at No. 1 in the 2022 Women’s Varsity Division III Week 5/February 23 Top 10 Poll.

Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) remains a unanimous No. 1 pick with California Lutheran University (94 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (89 points), Whittier College (82 points), Chapman University (81 points) and the University of La Verne (75 points) holding onto their prior placements at No. 2-to-6.

The University of Redlands (65 points) and Austin College (60 points) break a tie at No. 7 to rate at No. 7 and 8, respectively, with Augustana College (49 points) cracking the Top 10 at No. 9.  Occidental College (35 points) backs up once place to complete the Top 10.

2022 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 5 (Week 5)

Five-time defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion the University of Michigan continues at No. 1 in the 2022 CWPA Division I Week 5/February 23 Top Five Poll.

The 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021 league champion, Michigan (100 points) remains the undisputed/unanimous No. 1 selection.

Princeton University (93 points) again edges out Harvard University (92 points) to retain control of the runner-up spot.

The first change comes at No. 4 and 5 as Brown University (84 points) and Bucknell University (81 points) exchange the final two positions to complete the Top Five.

2022 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 5 (Week 5)

2021 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III champion Austin College remains the top-ranked program in the 2022 CWPA Division III Week 5/February 23 Top Five Poll.

The Kangaroos (100 points) continue as a unanimous No. 1 pick following a 2021 season in which Austin downed Wittenberg University to claim the program’s inaugural league championship.

Changes are rampant in the Top Five this week as Augustana College (75 points) climbs two places to take over at No. 2.  Wittenberg (72 points) remains at No. 3 with Macalester College (70 points) slipping two spots to No. 4.

Grove City College (65 points) completes the Top Five.
