BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Stanford University remains the top-ranked team in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2022 Week 8/March 16 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, the University of Michigan and Austin College also continue as the top-ranked teams in the Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.
2022 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 8)
Stanford University remains at No. 1 for the third time in as many weeks as the Cardinal top the Week 8/March 16 National Top 25 Poll.
The Cardinal (100 points) are a unanimous No. 1 selection and lead a Top 25 which experiences minimal shifts this week with the University of California-Los Angeles (96 points), the University of Southern California (92 points), the University of California (88 points), the University of Hawaii (84 points), the University of California-Irvine (79 points), the University of Michigan (76 points) and Fresno State University (72 points) retaining the No. 2-to-8 positions, respectively.
Arizona State University (66 points) and Long Beach State University (62 points) exchange the No. 9 and 10 spots for the first change in the Week 8 voting.
The University of California-Davis (60 points) holds at No. 11, while the University of California-San Diego (58 points) moves ahead of San Jose State University (49 points) with Wagner College (46 points) hanging on at No. 14.
Indiana University (42 points) and University of the Pacific (42 points) move into a tie at No. 15.
Loyola Marymount University (37 points) and the University of California-Santa Barbara (38 points) rise and fall to No. 17 and 18, while Princeton University (26 points), San Diego State University (24 points), Brown University (19 points), Harvard University (18 points) and Long Island University (10 points) continue at No. 19-to-23.
Marist College (9 points) and California State University-Northridge (6 points) complete the Top 25 as the duo exchange the final two positions.

The Top Five experiences a change this week as California Lutheran University (94 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (88 points) exchange the No. 2 and 3 positions.
Whittier College (86 points), Austin College (80 points), the University of La Verne (76 points) and Chapman University (71 points) retain the No. 4-to-7 berths for another seven-day stretch, while the University of Redlands (64 points), Augustana College (60 points) and Occidental College (34 points) complete the Top 10.

The Kangaroos (100 points) continue as a unanimous No. 1 pick following a 2021 season in which Austin downed Wittenberg University to claim the program’s inaugural league championship.
Augustana College (95 points) stays at No. 2, while Wittenberg (90 points) surpasses Macalester College (85 points) to take over at No. 3.
Macalester slips to No. 4 and Washington & Jefferson College (48 points) assumes the No. 5 slot to complete the rankings.
