2023 Women’s Collegiate Club Heartland Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2023 Women’s Collegiate Club Heartland Division schedule.
Featuring Carleton College, Grinnell College, Knox College and Saint Olaf College, the four-team division is the smallest in the Women’s Collegiate Club ranks and will contest a pair of regular season tournaments prior to the division championship on Saturday-Sunday, April 22-23, at Grinnell in Grinnell, Iowa.
In the history of the division, Macalester College (1999, 2001, 2003, 2004), Carleton (2002, 2006, 2009, 2019), Wheaton College (2005), Lindenwood University (2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013), Illinois State University (2010), Washington University in St. Louis (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) and Grinnell (2022) have previously captured the group’s crown. A division champion was not crowned during either the 2020 or 2021 seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic terminating the completion and start of the campaigns, respectively. In addition, the division did not contest a season in 2000.
Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, March 4-5, at Saint Olaf in Northfield, Minn., with eight games. The regular season continues back in Northfield on Saturday-Sunday, April 15-16, as Carleton hosts eight games.
The regular season comes to a close during the Heartland Division Championship as the final two games to establish the event’s seeding occur in the early afternoon on Saturday, April 22, at Grinnell. Following the concluding regular season games, the four squads will clash in semifinals on April 22 prior to the Third and Championship games on Sunday, April 23.
The victor of the Heartland Division Championship earns the group’s automatic berth to the 2023 Women’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship on Friday-Sunday, April 28-30, at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
