BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2024 Week 3/February 7 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

A change occurs at the top of the National Top 25 as the University of California-Los Angeles assumes the top position in a poll which features eight teams retaining their ranking from the Week 2/January 31 balloting.

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remains the unanimous top pick in the Division III 10 voting, while 2023 CWPA Division III Champion Augustana College stays at No. 1 in the CWPA Division III Top Five.

2023 CWPA Division I Champion Princeton University breaks a tie with the University of Michigan at No. 1 last week to regain sole possession of the lead in the CWPA Division I Top Five.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesdays during the 2024 season.

2024 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 3/February 7)

The University of California-Los Angeles moves up two places to take over at No. 1 in the 2024 Week 3/February 7 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.

UCLA (100 points), which rates as a unanimous selection, holds a six-point lead over the University of Hawaii (94 points) as the Rainbow Wahine also move up two places to assume the No. 2 berth.  Fresno State University (90 points) follows the Bruins and Wahine up the rankings as the Bulldogs also climb two places to rate at No. 3.

Stanford University (86 points) continues the pattern by moving up two spots to No. 4 after tying with the University of California-Irvine at No. 6 last week. 

The University of California (84 points) drops off the pace to fall three places to No. 2, while previously top-ranked the University of Southern California (83 points) settles at No. 6.  Arizona State University (71 points) cracks the Top 10 by jumping seven places to No. 7 with the remainder of the Top 10 comprised of a three-way tie at No. 8 between Princeton University (67 points), UC-Irvine (67 points) and the University of Michigan (67 points).

Loyola Marymount University (64 points) hangs on at No. 11, the duo of the University of California-Santa Barbara (50 points) and Long Beach State University (50 points) tie at No. 12 prior to the trio of Indiana University (46 points), the University of California-San Diego (46 points) and the University of California-Davis (46 points) sharing the No. 14 berth.

University of the Pacific (36 points) and Wagner College (33 points) come in at No. 17 and 18, respectively, prior to Harvard University (27 points) and San Jose State University (27 points) tying at No. 19.

Long Island University (20 points), San Diego State University (13 points), California State University-Northridge (12 points), Biola University (11 points) and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (7 points) complete the Top 25.

2024 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 3/February 7)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges stays at No. 1 in the 2024 Week 3/February 7 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Pomona-Pitzer (100 points) remains a unanimous top selection with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points), California Lutheran University (89 points) and the University of Redlands (80 points) continuing at No. 2-to-4.

Augustana College (79 points) moves up to No. 5, while Chapman University (76 points) and the University of La Verne (72 points) rise and fall to No. 6 and 7.

Whittier College (62 points), Macalester College (48 points) and Austin College (38 points) conclude the Division III Top 10.

2024 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 5 (Week 3/February 7)

Defending Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Champion Princeton University regains sole custody of the No. 1 position in the 2024 Week 3/February 7 CWPA Division I Top Five Poll.

The 2000, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2023 league champion Tigers (98 points) – which were tied at No. 1 last week by 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 league champion the University of Michigan (97 points) reacquire a one-point lead over the Wolverines after holding off the Maize & Blue by a 97-96 count in the Week 1/January 24 voting.

2022 and 2023 CWPA Championship runner-up Harvard University (88 points) and Brown University (87 points) continue at No. 3 and 4, respectively, while Bucknell University (53 points) breaks into the ranking at No. 5.

2024 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Top 5 (Week 3/February 7)

2023 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Augustana College remains the top-ranked program in the 2024 Week 3/February 7 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.

The Vikings (100 points) – which return to standing as a unanimous No. 1 selection this week after posting 100 and 99 points in the Week 1 and 2 balloting, respectively – gain a new runner-up as 2017, 2018 and 2019 CWPA Division III Champion Macalester College (93 points) supplants  2021 and 2022 CWPA Division III Champion Austin College (93 points) at No. 2.

Connecticut College (69 points) and Carthage College (69 points) complete the Top 5 by tying at No. 4.
