BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2024 Week 7/March 6 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.

The University of California-Los Angeles and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges continue at No. 1 in the National Top 25 and Division III Top 10, respectively, while Augustana College retains the No. 1 position in the CWPA Division III Top Five voting.  The CWPA Division I poll experiences a change as Princeton University surpasses the University of Michigan for the lead position in the league.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesdays during the season.

2024 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 7/March 6)

The University of California-Los Angeles continues a unanimous No. 1 selection in the 2024 Week 7/March 6 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.

UCLA (100 points) maintains a four-point lead over the University of Hawaii (96 points) with Stanford University (91 points) continuing at No. 3.  The University of California (87 points) breaks a tie with the University of Southern California (84 points) at No. 4 as the Golden Bears and Trojans now rate at No. 4 and 5, respectively.

Fresno State University (81 points) and the University of California-Irvine (75 points) stay at No. 6 and 7, while Princeton University (70 points) moves ahead of the University of Michigan (67 points) and Long Beach State University (66 points) as the trio complete the Top 10.

Arizona State University (60 points) and Loyola Marymount University (57 points) retain the No. 11 and 12 berths with the trio of the University of California-Santa Barbara (46 points), Indiana University (46 points) and the University of California-San Diego (46 points) moving into a tie at No. 13.

The University of California-Davis (39 points), San Jose State University (36 points), Wagner College (32 points), Harvard University (29 points) and Brown University (24 points) rearrange to complete the Top 20 at No. 16-to-20.

University of the Pacific (20 points) takes over at No. 21 with the duo of Long Island University (14 points) and California State University-Northridge (14 points) tying at No. 22. 

San Diego State University (11 points) and Marist College (4 points) complete the Top 25.

2024 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 7/March 6)

Pomona-Pitzer Colleges stays at No. 1 in the 2024 Week 7/March 6 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Pomona-Pitzer (100 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points) and California Lutheran University (88 points) continue at No. 1-to-3 with Chapman University (86 points) moving up to No. 4.

Augustana College (76 points) and the University of La Verne (76 points) tie at No. 5 with Austin College (70 points), Macalester College (60 points), the University of Redlands (50 points) and Whittier College (40 points) comprising the remainder of the Top 10.

2024 Women’s Varsity Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 5 (Week 7/March 6)

Following a 10-8 defeat of prior No. 1 the University of Michigan, defending league champion Princeton University assumes the top spot in the 2024 Week 7/March 6 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Top Five Poll.

2000, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2023 league champion Princeton (100 points) dislodges 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 league champion Michigan (95 points) from the No. 1 position as the duo were tied on top of the rankings last week. 

The remainder of the Top FIve remains consistent with the Week 6 voting as 2022 and 2023 CWPA Championship runner-up Harvard University (90 points), Brown University (85 points) and Saint Francis University (64 points) retain their rankings from seven days ago.

2023 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Augustana College remains the top-ranked program in the 2024 Week 7/March 6 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.

The Vikings (100 points) expand their lead to nine points as 2021 and 2022 CWPA Division III Champion Austin College (91 points) and 2017, 2018 and 2019 CWPA Division III Champion Macalester College (91 points) move into a tie at No. 2.

2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 CWPA Division III Champion Connecticut College (68 points) and Washington & Jefferson College (66 points) complete the Top Five.
