BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2025 Week 9/March 19 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Stanford University and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remain at No. 1 in the National Top 25 and Division III Top 10 balloting, respectively, while the University of Michigan and Austin College take over the top spots in the CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top 5 polls.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from around the country based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during the season starting the Wednesday following the first regular season contest.
2025 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 9)
Stanford University continues to roll along as the the unanimous No. 1 pick in the Week 9/March 19 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.
Stanford (100 points), the University of Southern California (96 points), the University of Hawaii (92 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (88 points) and the University of California (84 points) stay at No. 1-to-5, respectively, while Long Beach State University (76 points) breaks a tie with Fresno State (75 points) to acquire sole custody of the No. 6 berth after the two programs shared the spot last week.
The University of California-Irvine (68 points) trades partners at No. 8 as the Anteaters – who were tied with Harvard University for the position last week – are the equals of Arizona State University (68 points) in the latest round of voting.
Indiana University (64 points) improves seven positions to complete the Top 10, while Harvard (55 points) falls back into a tie with the University of California-San Diego (55 points) at No. 11.
Loyola Marymount University (54 points), Princeton University (57 points), the University of Michigan (50 points), the University of California-Davis (41 points), Wagner College (38 points), San Jose State University (32 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (28 points) and San Diego State University (22 points) rearrange to acquire the No. 12-to-20 spots.
Marist College (20 points), Brown University (15 points), California State University-Northridge (11 points), California Baptist University (8 points) and University of the Pacific (5 points) complete the Week 9 Top 25.

2025 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 9)
Pomona-Pitzer Colleges stays at No. 1 in the Week 9/March 19 Women’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.
Pomona-Pitzer (100 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points), Chapman University (90 points) and California Lutheran University (85 points) stay at No. 1-to-4 with the remainder of the Top 10 experiencing changes in the wake of the scores during the previous seven days.
Austin College (79 points) improves to No. 5 with Macalester College (71 points) and Augustana College (69 points) settling in behind the Kangaroos at No. 6 and 7.
The University of La Verne (68 points), Occidental College (62 points) and Washington & Jefferson College (45 points) button-up the rankings at No. 8-to-10.

Maize & Blue supplant Crimson as the color of choice at No. 1 in the Week 9/March 19 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Top Five Poll as the University of Michigan overtakes Harvard University for the lead position.
2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 league champion Michigan (97 points) – which defeated Harvard (93 points) by a 9-7 score last weekend during San Diego State University’s Aztec Invitational – eludes 2000, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023 and 2024 league champion Princeton University (95 points) as the Tigers retain the No. 2 spot.
Harvard (93 points) drops back to No. 3 with Brown University (85 points) and Bucknell University (80 points) remaining status quo at No. 4 and 5.

2021 and 2022 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Austin College utilized wins over 2023 and 2024 CWPA Division III Champion Augustana College (14-13 W) and 2017, 2018 and 2019 CWPA Division III Champion Macalester College (11-8 W) at home over the weekend in Sherman, Texas, to become the top-ranked program in the Week 9/March 19 CWPA Division III Top Five Poll.
Austin (100 points) – which rates as a unanimous top selection – climbs from No. 3 to No. 1 this week with Macalester (93 points) – which defeated Augustana (7-5 W) remaining at No. 2.
Washington & Jefferson College (89 points) rises to No. 3 with previously No. 1 Augustana (88 points) dropping back to No. 4.
Penn State Behrend (64 points) cracks the the Top Five after being unranked last week.
