BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2026 Week 2/January 28 Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls.
Defending National Champions Stanford University and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges remain at No. 1 in the National Top 25 and Division III Top 10 Polls, respectively, with defending CWPA Champion Harvard University and CWPA Division III Champion Augustana College hanging onto the top spots in the CWPA Division I and Division III Top 5 polls, respectively.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from around the country based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls will be compiled and released on Wednesday during the season starting the Wednesday following the first regular season contest.
2026 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 2)
Defending National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Champion Stanford University stays at No. 1 in the 2026 Week 2/January 28 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.
The Cardinal (99 points), the University of Southern California (96 points), the University of California-Los Angeles (92 points), the University of California (88 points) and the University of Hawaii (83 points) remain at No. 1-to-5, respectively, while previously No. 11-ranked Arizona State University (76 points) burning through the field to No. 6.
The rise of ASU causes changes to the remainder of the Top 10 as Long Beach State University (75 points), Indiana University (73 points), Loyola Marymount University (70 points) and Fresno State University (66 points) drop back to No. 7-to-10.
The University of California-Irvine (57 points) moves to No. 11 with the University of California-San Diego (55 points) and Harvard University (50 points) breaking a tie at No. 13 to rate at No. 12 and 13.
The University of California-Davis (48 points) improves to No. 14 with Princeton University (45 points) and San Jose State University (45 points) tying at No. 15.
University of the Pacific (32 points) and the University of Michigan (31 points) rise and fall to No. 17 and 18, respectively, with the University of California-Santa Barbara (24 points) and San Diego State University (24 points) tying at No. 19.
Brown University (20 points), Marist University (18 points), California Baptist University (15 points) and Wagner College (8 points) stand at No 21-to-24 with Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (4 points) and California State University-Northridge (4 points) tying for the final position to complete the Top 25.

Defending USA Water Polo Division III National Champion Pomona-Pitzer (99 points) leads a Top 10 which experiences minor changes in the final positions of this week’s rankings.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (96 points), California Lutheran University (90 points), Chapman University (81 points), Augustana College (80 points), the University of La Verne (74 points), Austin College (72 points) and Macalester College (52 points) hang on at No. 2-to-8 with Occidental College (38 points) and Whittier College (26 points) taking over at No. 9 and 10.

The 2025 champion Crimson (99 points) move within a point of being a unanimous top selection, while 2000, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023 and 2024 league champion Princeton University (96 points) remains within striking distance at No. 2. 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022 league champion the University of Michigan (88 points) – which was tied with Harvard and Princeton at No. 1 in the preseason voting – breaks a tie from last week with Brown University (87 points) to gain sole custody of the No. 3 position.
The Bears and Bucknell University (80 points) complete the Top Five.

The Vikings (98 points) stay at No. 1 with Macalester College (93 points) edging Austin College (92 points) for the runner-up spot. Carthage College (86 points) and Connecticut College (48 points) round out the Top Five.
