2019 Men’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Due to a scheduling conflict at Colby College, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Collegiate Club North Atlantic Division schedule.

Comprised of Bates College, Bowdoin College, Colby and the University of Vermont, the North Atlantic Division will contest its 23rd season in 2019 with previous titles held by Tufts University (1997, 1998, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2016), Bates (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2017, 2018), Dartmouth College (2003), Middlebury College (2004, 2005), Boston College (2006), the United States Coast Guard Academy (2008), Amherst College (2011, 2012, 2014) and Northeastern University (2015).

The division’s competitive format is comprised of two regional tournaments and the championship weekend. As there are only four teams competing in the division, all teams play each opponent three times during the regular season with the final two regular season games taking place as the first two games on the championship weekend.  Seeding for the championship will be based on the won/loss record during the regular season.

Competition will begin on Saturday-Sunday, September 14-15, at Vermont’s Forbush Natatorium in Burtlington, Vt., as the four teams meet for an eight game weekend.

The change occurs at Colby as a pool conflict at the Aflond Athletic Center in Waterville, Maine causes the date to move from Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6, to Saturday-Sunday, September 28-29.

The regular season wraps up and the division championship will be decided on Saturday-Sunday, October 19-20, at Bowdoin’s Greason Pool in Brunswick, Maine, as the host Polar Bears face Bates and Colby meets Vermont to conclude the regular season and set the seeds for the four-game division championship.

The highest finishing Division III team among Bates, Bowdoin and Colby at the North Atlantic Division Championship receives an automatic bid to the Men’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship slated for Saturday-Sunday, October 26-27, at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.  Due to scheduling, the possibility of the Division III Club Championship moving to Saturday-Sunday, November 2-3, and/or to another institution remains on the table as teams should check with the league office in September regarding a finalized date and site.

Due to the North Atlantic Division not having a berth to the men’s National Collegiate Club Championship, non-Division III institution Vermont can compete for the division championship, but can not advance to a national championship tournament.
