2022 Men’s Collegiate Club Southwest Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases an updated 2022 Men’s Collegiate Club Southwest Division schedule.

Comprised of Arizona State University “A”, Arizona State University “B”, Grand Canyon University, San Diego State University “A”, San Diego State University “B”, the University of Arizona, the University of California-Irvine, the University of California-San Diego “A”, the University of California-San Diego “B” and the University of San Diego, the Southwest Division will contest its 21st season as Arizona (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009), the University of Colorado (1998, 2001), Arizona State (2008, 2010), San Diego State (2016, 2017, 2021) and the University of California-San Diego (2018, 2019) have combined to claim the previous 20 titles. The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Southwest Division did not compete as a group in 2011.

Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, October 8-9, with 19 games at San Diego State in San Diego, Calif. 

The change in the schedule occurs on the weekend of Saturday-Sunday, October 15-16, as the tournament at UC-San Diego in La Jolla, Calif., expands to 20 games.

A single contest will be contested on a date to be determined as Arizona State “A” competes at Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Ariz.

The Southwest Division Championship is set for Saturday-Sunday, October 29-30, as the 15-game tournament will occur at Arizona in Tucson, Ariz., with the victor claiming the division’s bid to the 2022 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship on Friday-Sunday, November 11-13, at a site to be determined in the Northwest Division.

Further, the team which finishes in the middle of the Southwest Division earns the opportunity to compete in the National Invitational on a date and at a site to be determined against teams that claimed the top spot in the lower half of their divisions.
