2025 Men’s Collegiate Club Great Lakes Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases an updated 2025 Men’s Collegiate Club Great Lakes Division schedule.
Due to Ball State University electing not to compete in 2025 and multiple teams being unable to compete during the same weekend, the league releases a reworked schedule with a multitude of changes.
Grand Valley State University, Miami University (Ohio), the University of Dayton, the University of Notre Dame and Wayne State University will now contest the 25th season of Great Lakes Division action.
In the history of the division, Iowa State University (1997), Western Illinois University (1998), Grand Valley State (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2016), the University of Illinois-Chicago (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015), The Ohio State University (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018), Notre Dame (2019) and Washington University in St. Louis (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024) have all claimed at least one championship. The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the inability of all five teams to compete on the same championship weekend, the previously released championship site and date of Saturday-Sunday, November 1-2, at Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, is canceled. Due to the cancellation – and the times potentially competing in an unequal number of games – the winning percentage from regular season competition will determine the division champion and qualifier for the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship at a site and on a date to be determined.
The opening weekend of competition with Grand Valley State, Notre Dame, Miami (Ohio) and Wayne State scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, September 27-28, at Notre Dame’s campus facility changes to eight games and moves to the Concord Aquatic Center at Concord High School in Elkhart, Indiana.
Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, will host Grand Valley, Miami (Ohio) and Notre Dame for a a 10-game event on Saturday-Sunday, October 4-5. Games on Saturday, October 4, will use five-minute quarters with neither overtime nor timeouts. Contests on Sunday, October 5, similar to the September 27-28 weekend at Concord Aquatic Center, will utilize regulation rules with seven-minutes quarter, timeouts, etc.
A tournament at Rockford High School in Rockford, Mich., is added to the docket as Dayton, Grand Valley, Miami (Ohio) and Wayne State will tangle in a six-game weekend with regulation club rules.
The Great Lakes Division schedule comes to a conclusion on Saturday, November 1, as Notre Dame hosts Grand Valley and Wayne State for a three-game mini-event with regulation club rules.
The champion will be decided based on each teams’ winning percentage with ties broken by head-to-head meetings between the teams if percentages are equal (i.e., if two teams finish with .750 winning percentages, the head-to-head results between the two programs will determine the order of placement).
