BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Defending National Champion the University of California-Davis now reigns as a unanimous No. 1 selection through the seventh week of the 2018 season as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 7/March 22 Women’s National Collegiate Club Top 20 Poll.
The Aggies (100 points), who held 99 points last week, garner a perfect 100 points this week in the aftermath of the Foothill Tournament where UC-Davis “A” dispatched the University of Michigan (18-2 W), the University of Florida (11-4 W) and Lindenwood University (5-4 W).
California Polytechnic State University (95 points) and the University of California-Los Angeles (88 points) remain at No. 2 and 3, respectively, with the remainder of the Top 20 dramatically adjusted from the Week 6/March 15 voting.
Florida (84 points) is the biggest mover of the week as the Gators rise from a tie at No. 14 last week to take over at No. 4. Florida strengthened its case for a Top Five billing thanks to victories over Lindenwood (12-11 W), the University of Washington (8-4 W) and the University of Notre Dame (12-2 W) with a loss to the top-ranked Aggies.
Pennsylvania State University (77 points)follows at No. 5, a two place improvement of the Nittany Lions’ No. 7 selection last week, while Grand Valley State University (70 points) assumes the No. 7 slot after ranking at No. 8 seven days ago.
Washington (68 points) and California (64 points) drop back to No. 8 and 9, respectively, with California State University-Chico (53 points) inching up to No. 10.
Michigan (51 points), the University of Texas (42 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (40 points), San Diego State University (36 points) and the University of Oregon (34 points) rise and fall to now stand at No. 11-to-15.
The University of California-San Diego (23 points), Dartmouth College (16 points), the University of California-Santa Cruz (15 points) and Texas A&M University (6 points) rate at No. 16-to-19, with the duo of the University of Notre Dame (5 points) and the University of Virginia (5 points) completing the Top 20 in a tie for the final spot.
