BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) remembers referee Luis Moreno who recently passed away.
Moreno dedicated over 25 years of his life to the sport as a referee, coach, and athlete.
His passion for the game led him to not only adjudicate matches but also to contribute as a coach. Moreno played a pivotal role in the development of Offshore Water Polo, leaving an indelible mark on aspiring athletes. Not only did Moreno officiate and coach, but he was also an accomplished athlete. His competitive spirit took him to the international stage, where he proudly represented the sport in Torino. Additionally, he continued to showcase his skills in various masters events, demonstrating that his love for water polo transcended age.
Moreno’s dedication, both as a referee ensuring fair play and as a coach fostering talent, has left an enduring imprint on the water polo landscape. The memories of his passion for the game and his commitment to its growth will continue to inspire generations of water polo enthusiasts.
