NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — The Connecticut College women’s water polo team dropped a pair of matches in California as the Camels first fell to Austin College, 14-6, before dropping a 13-2 decision to host/No. 20-ranked California State University-Northridge.

First year varsity program Austin College outscored the Camels, 3-1, in the first two quarters and never trailed. The Kangaroos extended their lead to as many as eight goals by the third quarter and remained in control to post the win.

Sophomore Brooklynn Hayes (Granville, Mass.) netted a hat trick to pace the Connecticut College offense. Junior captain Kaitlin Reagan (Saratoga, Calif.) scored twice and was among three Camels to register two steals. Ginny McCool (Delray Beach, Fla.), another junior captain, stopped six shots over two quarters in goal.

Facing the host Matadors, Cal State Northridge scored the first four goals and led from wire-to-wire. The Matadors did not allow the Camels to score in the second half en route to posting a double-digit victory.

Sophomore Stephania Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) and Hayes each scored for Connecticut College, while Lopez also added an assist and finished with three steals. McCool made two saves between the posts.
