BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Connecticut College’s Gigi Sandull (Fr., Kenilworth, N.J./Union County Vocational-Technical Schools) racked up 21 goals, five assists, nine steals and seven drawn ejections during a 4-3 week for the Camels to earn a share of the March 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Rookie of the Week award.

A first-time weekly honor recipient from the league office, Sandull shares the accolade with Casey Barragan (So., Commerce, Calif./La Serna) of Division III No. 7-ranked Augustana College.

Competing in California for the first half of the week, Sandull scored once against Occidental College (7-6 W) on Monday, March 13 in Los Angeles.  Facing Division III No. 10 the California Institute of Technology on Tuesday, March 14, in Pasadena, she notched three goals, an assist, a field block and a drawn exclusion in a 19-11 loss to the Beavers.  In the West Coast finale in Orange on Wednesday, March 15, at Division III No. 9 Chapman University, she did not score in a 20-4 loss.

Her most significant marks of the week came in CWPA Division III-East Region action at Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pa., as she punched in a trio in a 13-11 loss to Washington & Jefferson College and five more in a 17-16 victory over the host Lions on Saturday, March 18.

Sandull capped off the week by putting away eight markers in a 17-13 win versus Grove City College prior to contributing a pair in a 12-9 management of Utica University on Sunday, March 19.
