BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Stephania Lopez (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Saint Ignatius College Prep) of Division III No. 10-ranked Connecticut College, who scored nine goals in helping the Camels to a runner-up finish at the 2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship, claims recognition as the April 16 CWPA Rookie of the Week.
Competing at the Hallman Aquatics Center in Erie, Pa., Lopez scored four times in a 10-5 tournament-opening victory against host Penn State Behrend prior to tacking on one score in a 7-3 semifinal defeat of Washington & Jefferson College.
In the CWPA Division III Championship title game, she racked up four goals in a 13-12 overtime loss to Division III No. 8 Macalester College.
The 2018 CWPA Division III Rookie of the Year and Rookie of the Tournament, Lopez earns her second weekly award as she previously took home notice as the March 26 Rookie of the Week.
