THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Host/Division III No. 2-ranked California Lutheran University found a way to escape Division III No. 10 Connecticut College, 8-4, at the Samuelson Aquatics Center in the final game of the Camels’ West Coast trip.

After senior Shannon Cry (Monterey, Calif.) fired the ball off the post, California Lutheran scored the first goal of the game when Remy Wilkison converted at the 6:52 mark. Connecticut College had several more opportunities to get on the board, but senior Sophia Soriano (Summerland, Calif.) and freshman Stephania Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) had shot attempts bounce off the post as well. Jayci Burrell and Wilkison each found the back of the net as the Regals held a 4-1 advantage at halftime.

California Lutheran picked right up where it left off in the third quarter and scored two straight goals to build up a 6-1 lead. Senior April Anderson (Mill Valley, Pa.) scored a goal in each of the last two quarters, but the Camels were unable to come any closer than three for the remainder of the contest.

The Regals were led by Wilkison’s five-goal outburst. Goalie Bailey Meyer made seven saves to pick up the victory between the posts.

Anderson scored two goals to propel the Camels’ offense. Cry finished with a game-high four steals, while senior goalie Sarah Nappo (Portland, Maine) registered three steals and two saves.
