VILLANOVA, Pa. — Alaina Pribis (Sr., Concord, N.H.) scored five times to notch Player of the Game accolades as Division III No. 5-ranked Middlebury College stopped Division III No. 8 New York University, 13-4, during the opening day of the 2019 Women’s Division III Collegiate Club Championship hosted by Villanova University.
- The Panthers never trailed in the game as Middlebury opened up a 7-0 lead by the conclusion of the first quarter and held a 9-3 margin by the conclusion of the first half. Out in front 11-4 by the end of the third quarter, Middlebury tacked on a final pair of markers in the fourth quarter for the nine-goal margin of victory.
- For Middlebury, Jenna Kotcher (So., Mountainview, Calif.) tacked on four tallies, while Emily Chu (So., Claremont, Calif.) rattled the cage twice. Virginia Stanley (So., Wallingord, Conn.) and Eve Labalme (Jr., Conrwall, Conn.) both chipped in solo markers.
- A quartet of athletes posted goals for NYU as Samantha Waln (Jr., Los Altos, Calif.), Rachael Moore (Jr., London, U.K.), Rachael Ho (So., Burbank, Calif.) and Laura Shkouratoff (Jr., Santa Clara, Calif.) slipped in shots.
- Middlebury shot three-for-four on man-up opportunities, while NYU converted one-of-three chances.
- The win raises Middlebury’s record to 1-0 in Bracket B and drops NYU to 0-1. The Panthers can now finish no lower than Fourth Place in the final six-team tournament standings, while the Violets can not finish higher than Third Place depending on the outcome of the following games.
