BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Dr. Craig Cheney was a recent guest on fellow Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) water polo alumnus Rob Kalwarowsky‘s Infinite & Beyond: The MIT Alumni Show

In this episode, Dr. Cheney (MIT PhD ’19, Founder & CEO of Strive Robotics) explores how physical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and general-purpose robotics are reshaping high-mix manufacturing. Dr. Cheney shares his 10-year journey at MIT, competing as a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) water polo player, and transitioning from traditional control theory to learned AI models.

In addition, the pair discuss why Strive Robotics is building centaur-style physical agents – a quadruped base paired with bimanual manipulators – that operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines like human apprentices without requiring million-dollar system re-integration.
