TORRANCE, Calif. — The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for part-time temporary Head Women’s Water Polo Coach. Instruction will be in Intercollegiate Water Polo Classes and if qualified with appropriate degree can teach physical education courses with emphasis in activity, fitness, health education, yoga and other essential courses.
The roles and responsibilities of the Head Women’s Water Polo Coach include, but are not limited to:
Development of the water polo team: practice planning, training sessions, scheduling contests, monitoring budget, establishing effective communication with team and staff members. Recruitment of prospective student-athletes. Adherence to all departmental, institutional, South Coast Conference, and CCCAA rules, regulations, and protocols. Supervision and direction of assistant coaches, team members, and managers. Proactive partnership and effective collaboration with all administrative areas of the department: finance, development and alumni relations, athletic training, strength & conditioning, athletic communications, facilities, event management, equipment room, and compliance. Facilitation of student-athletes’ connection to campus resources. Demonstration of leadership, sportsmanship, and mature conduct. Maintenance of a fair and objective relationship with team members. Assist with oversight and inventory management of water polo equipment and uniforms with Equipment Attendants. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College’s mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services.
Required Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in the discipline and any certificate or license required to do that work; OR
Any Associate’s degree and six years of experience and any certification or license required to do the work; OR
The equivalent – Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR
Valid California community college instructor credential in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355); AND
Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and of individuals with disabilities.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated successful university, community college or high school Water Polo coaching experience.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time teaching assignment(s) for the 2019 summer/fall semester, beginning July 1, 2019. A coaching demonstration may be required during the interview process. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver’s license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
SALARY
Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $84.86 – $108.33 (lecture), $64.32 – $82.09 (lab) per hour depending on education and experience. Coaching Stipend $5,000.
