BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — As men’s and women’s collegiate water polo continues to spread across the country from the Northeast and West Coasts into the Midwest, South, Pacific Northwest and throughout the Great Plains, predominantly Division III institutions are beginning to sponsor programs.
Due to the addition of growth efforts from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), USA Water Polo and the formation of the USA Water Polo Division III Collegiate Championships for both men and women starting during the 2019-20 academic year, water polo on the Division III level continues to prosper
The recent addition of men’s programs at Austin College (Sherman, Texas) and women’s teams at Austin and Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio), combined with the impending start of varsity teams at Millikin University (Decatur, Ill.) and Augustana College (Rock Island, Ill.) have fueled additional opportunities for athletes around the country to compete.
