BRIDGEPORT, Pa — Kate Anderson (Fr., Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook), Courtney Kennedy (Sr., Smithtown, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy), Sara Kuiken (Fr., Valley Falls, N.Y./Tamarack), Kira Seaman (So., Fort Edward, N.Y./Hudson Falls) and Audra Williams (Fr., Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) of the Utica College women’s water polo team are among a record 164 Pioneers’ student-athletes named to the Empire 8 Conference President’s List for the spring 2020 semester.
In addition, women’s water polo (3.61) garnered All-Academic team honors joining baseball (3.27), women’s basketball (3.42), men’s basketball (3.26), field hockey (3.74), women’s golf (3.85), men’s golf (3.27), women’s hockey (3.65), men’s hockey (3.64), women’s lacrosse (3.53), men’s lacrosse (3.35), softball (3.51), women’s soccer (3.74), men’s soccer (3.26), women’s swim & dive (3.56), men’s swim & dive (3.28), women’s track & field (3.52), volleyball (3.46), women’s cross country (3.59), men’s cross country (3.3) and women’s tennis (3.38).
Overall, a league record 1,040 student-athletes from Alfred University, Elmira College, Hartwick College, Houghton College, Nazareth College, The Sage Colleges, St. John Fisher College and Utica were recognized by the Empire 8 for their excellence in the classroom this past semester with the President’s List distinction, one of most prestigious honors the conference recognizes.
Recipients of this honor must earn a 3.75 grade-point average or higher during the semester, while participating in an National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)-sponsored sport. In addition, the student-athlete must display positive conduct on and off campus and be enrolled full-time at the member institution. The conference states, “Its commitment to serve the educational needs of its student-athletes is the hallmark of the Empire 8 Conference.”
