2024 Fordham University Men’s Water Polo Schedule
BRONX, N.Y. — The three-time defending Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Fordham University released their 2024 schedule for the upcoming men’s water polo season. The schedule has set up as one of the most challenging runs to date for the Rams, featuring 12 contests against opponents that received votes in the final poll of 2023, including fellow National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship participants Princeton University and San Jose State University.
Fordham opens the season at Brown University on September 7 followed by a neutral site match against California Baptist University. The opening weekend wraps up on September 8 with a match against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an exhibition game at Harvard University.
Week two will be a split weekend for the Rams, facing a pair of Top 15 programs. First, Fordham heads to the Princeton Invitational on September 14 to meet the University of California-San Diego. The Rams then head home on September 15 to host Harvard at the Messmore Aquatic Center.
The Rams follow their home opener with the squad’s annual trip to the Bison Invitational, September 21-22, playing three league matches against host Bucknell University, Johns Hopkins University and Mount St. Mary’s University, while having a non-league match with Augustana College.
Starting on September 27, Fordham will have six straight home contests beginning with NCAA semifinalist Princeton coming to the Messmore Aquatic Center. This will be the Tigers’ first visit to Fordham since 2019. The homestand continues with matches against the United States Naval Academy (September 28), George Washington University (September 28), Wagner College (October 12), Iona University (October 12), and an exhibition with the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) (October 18).
The Rams then have their longest road trip of the season to the West Coast from October 22-27.
The trip begins with road games at the University of California-Santa Barbara on October 22 and San Jose State University on October 24. For UC-Santa Barbara, it will be the first ever meeting for the Rams and Gauchos.
The trip continues with a ranked match-up with the University of the Pacific on October 25 at Santa Clara University and a game versus the University of California-Merced on October 26 at San Jose State. The West Coast swing ends with an October 27 match with the United States Air Force Academy at Santa Clara, marking the first Fordham-Air Force match since 2010.
The Rams then return to league play in November with road games at George Washington (November 2), Navy (November 2), Johns Hopkins (November 3) and Wagner (November 8). Fordham has its final two home games on November 9 against Bucknell and Mount St. Mary’s to conclude MAWPC regular season play.
Regular season competition for Fordham concludes on the road with matches at Connecticut College (November 15) and Brown University (November 16).
The team then heads to the 2024 MAWPC Championship, which will be held November 22-24 in Annapolis, Md., at the U.S. Naval Academy, as the Rams will look for their fourth consecutive championship and another NCAA Championship berth.
The NCAA Championship is set for December 6-8 at UC-San Diego in La Jolla, Calif.
