BRONX, N.Y. — As the Fordham University water polo team begins to ramp up their preseason, one of the Rams’ newcomers, Jacopo Parrella (Fr., Naples, Italy/Umberto I State Classical), will have a slightly different preseason, as he has been named to the Italian Junior National Team, which will compete at the 2021 FINA World Junior Championship in Prague, Czech Republic.
Italy will be in Group A for the preliminary stages of the championship, which will take place August 28 through September 5. Italy will have preliminary round matches against Croatia (August 29), Uzbekistan (August 30), Russia (August 31) and Argentina (September 1).
Parrella, a 6-2 driver/2-meter defender from Naples, Italy, is also a member of the Italian National Team, winning a European Championship with the U18 National Team in 2019, as well as the U20 Italian National Championship. Playing club for Circolo Nautico Posillipo, he was a starter in the Italian A1 League, one of the top leagues in the world.
