2021 Fordham University Men’s Water Polo Schedule

BRONX, N.Y. — The Fordham University water polo team announced it 2021 schedule, which features 28 matches and will be capped by the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Championship in November at the United States Naval Academy.

Fordham begins the year in Providence, R.I., at the Bruno Classic hosted by Brown University on September 4-5, which will have featured matches at both Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., and Brown over the two-day tournament.  On day one at Harvard, Fordham will face the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Crimson, while day two brings contests versus Santa Clara University and Mercyhurst University at Brown.

The Rams then head to the Princeton Invitational on September 11-12 in Princeton, N.J., where they will face California Baptist University, St. Francis Brooklyn College and the host Tigers.

Next up is the Bison Invitational, hosted at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., from September 18-19.  That will have four matches for Fordham, which includes two league matches with defending MAWPC Champion Bucknell and Wagner College.  The Rams will also face Mount St. Mary’s University in a non-league match, as well as Mercyhurst.

Fordham will have its first home match on September 26, when the team host the United States Naval Academy for a MAWPC-East match, before heading west for the team’s regular trip to California for the Gary Troyer Tournament.  After a pair of non-tournament matches on September 30 at the University of Redlands and at Mt. St. Antonio College, the Troyer Tournament takes place on October 1-2, where the Rams will face California Lutheran University, Westcliff College, Whittier College and Long Beach State University.

The Rams then have a stretch of five straight league home matches after returning to the East Coast against Mount St. Mary’s (October 8), George Washington University (October 9), Wagner (October 22), Johns Hopkins University (October 30), and Bucknell (October 31).  After that stretch, Fordham will then have four straight road league matches before ending the season with a home match against longtime metropolitan nemesis St. Francis Brooklyn on November 12.

The MAWPC Championship is slated for November 19-21 at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., with the victor claiming the league’s automatic berth to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.
