2022 Fordham University Men’s Water Polo Schedule

BRONX, N.Y. — The 2021 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Rams of Fordham University announced the program’s 2022 schedule.  The slate features four early season tournaments, as well as the Rams playing host to the 2022 MAWPC Championship at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center in November.

Like last season, Fordham opens the year with Bruno Classic on September 3-4, hosted by Harvard University and Brown University.  Day one will see Fordham face Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at Harvard, while the second day of play at Brown features matches against Gannon University and University of the Pacific.

The Rams then head to the Princeton Invitational on September 10-11 hosted by Princeton Universty.  The Rams have a first day match-up with California Baptist University, while day two has Fordham going up against St. Francis College Brooklyn and the host/2021 Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion Tigers in a re-match of last year’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship Opening Round match to cap the tournament.

Fordham continues tournament action on September 17-18 at the Bison Invitational hosted by Bucknell University.  Over those two days, the Rams will see conference matches against Mount St. Mary’s University, the host Bison and Wagner College prior to finishing up with a game against Salem University.

The Rams will then have their annual trip to California on September 23-25 as the team takes part in the three-day Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Invitational at Stanford University in Palo Alto.  Matchups for this tournament have yet to be released.

Fordham returns to the Bronx for its home opening conference match at the Messmore Aquatic Center against Wagner on September 29.

After that home match, the Rams are back on the road at the MAWPC Crossover, which will be hosted by Salem on October 8-9 at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia.  While there, Fordham will have MAWPC league matches against McKendree University, the host Tigers, Gannon and Mercyhurst University.

Fordham returns home to start a five-match stretch in the Bronx featuring league matches against George Washington University (October 15), Johns Hopkins University (October 15), 2021 MAWPC Championship runner-up the United States Naval Academy (October 22), Bucknell (October 29) and Mount St. Mary’s (October 29).

The Rams conclude the league regular season with three road matches at George Washington (November 5), Navy (November 5), and Johns Hopkins (November 6), before returning home for the home finale against St. Francis Brooklyn on November 10.  Fordham and Iona will also face off in the annual Judge Cup during the regular season, but a date and location for that match are still being determined.

Fordham will remain in the five boroughs as the program hosts the 2022 MAWPC Championship on November 18-20, at the Messmore Aquatic Center.  This is the second time that Fordham will play host to the Championship with the previous time coming in 2019.
