BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Fordham University senior Alex Jahns (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) totaled 31 saves, 11 steals and two assists in a 3-0 weekend to earn September 25 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors as the Rams opened up league action.

Now a three-time weekly honor recipient following Co-Defensive Player of the Week laurels on September 26 and Defensive Player of the Week notice on October 31 during the 2016 season, Jahns started MAWPC league play with six saves, two assists, and two steals in a 13-10 victory at Division III No. 5-ranked Johns Hopkins University on September 23. He added a dozen saves along with five steals in a close 8-7 victory over host the United States Naval Academy later in the day.

In his strongest performance of the weekend, Jahns secured 13 saves and grabbed four steals in another close 8-7 victory over No. 18 George Washington University to permit the Rams to open the year with a 3-0 mark in league competition.
