BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Bailey O’Mara (So., Darien, Conn./Darien) of No. 17-ranked Fordham University totaled 58 saves, two assists and 10 steals during a six-game road trip for the Rams to California.  For his performance, O’Mara is named the October 7 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

A four-time Defensive Player of the Week selection following a notice on October 22 during the 2018 season prior to taking the September 9 and September 23 nods earlier this year, he anchored Fordham to a 5-1 record against Division III No. 4 Chapman University, Division III No. 6 University of Redlands, Division III No. 9 Occidental College, No. 20 California Baptist University, Mt. San Antonio College and No. 9 University of California-San Diego.

He opened the trip by making eight saves with an assist and two steals in three and three-quarters frames of a 13-8 defeat of host Redlands on Thursday, October 3.  O’Mara concluded the day by turning away 11 shots and grabbing a steal in a 12-6 dispatching of Mt. San Antonio on October 3.

Competing at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament hosted by Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and the University of La Verne, O’Mara helped Fordham notch a 3-1 mark.

On Friday, October 4, he made 17 saves with two steals to go the distance in an 11-10 overtime defeat of Cal Baptist prior to reentering the water to stop seven shots with a steal and a five-meter penalty shot save in two and a half quarters of a 13-3 victory over Occidental.

O’Mara wrapped up the West Coast swing and the Troyer Tournament on Saturday, October 5, by making nine saves with an assist and three steals over three quarters in a 19-5 loss to UC-San Diego and collecting six saves with a steal in three and a half quarters of action to defeat Chapman, 18-10.
