BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Bailey O’Mara (So., Darien, Conn./Darien) of No. 16-ranked Fordham University collected 65 saves – including a pair of blocked penalty shots – and nine steals during a 4-0 week for the Rams to collect recognition as the November 11 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

A five-time Defensive Player of the Week selection following a notice on October 22 during the 2018 season prior to taking the September 9, September 23 and October 7 nods earlier this year, he earned a non-conference victory at home against Iona College (12-8 W) prior to picking up conference road wins at No. 18 George Washington University (14-13 W), the United States Naval Academy (11-6 W) and Division III No. 4 Johns Hopkins University (11-8 W).

He opened his week with nine saves in the Rams’ Judge Cup win over Iona on Wednesday, November 6, and then tied a career-high with 17 saves in a win at George Washington to go with a career-best six steals on Saturday, November 9. Later on Saturday, he broke his career-high with 18 saves in a win at Navy to go with three steals, two penalty blocks and an assist.

He capped the weekend by breaking that one-day career-high with 21 stops at Johns Hopkins on Sunday, November 10, to become only the third Fordham goalie to record 20 or more saves in a game.
