BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Barnabas Eppel (Fr., Budapest, Hungary/Budenz József Alapítványi Gimnázium) of No. 15-ranked Fordham University snags October 23 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week laurels following a West Coast trip by the Rams’ in which he posted 11 goals, three assists, six steals and 18 ejections drawn.

A two-time Rookie of the Week honoree this season with prior recognition on October 2, he started the trip on Wednesday, October 18, by recording two goals, an assist, a steal and three ejections drawn in a 12-10 loss at No. 16 University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.  A day later in Berkeley, Calif., he dished out a helper, grabbed a steal and drew four ejections in an 18-11 loss at No. 2 the University of California.

His most significant performances of the week came at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament hosted by No. 20 Santa Clara University and No. 14 San Jose State University on Friday-Sunday, October 20-22.

Eppel started the tournament on October 20 by posting two steals and four ejections drawn in a 10-8 loss to San Jose State.  A day later, he punched in five markers, collected a steal and drew four ejections in a 15-10 management of No. 17 California Baptist University prior to racking up three goals and a steal in a 12-10 disposing of Santa Clara.

He capped off the Rams’ six-game run in the Golden State by contributing a goal, an assist and three ejections drawn in a 15-14 loss to No. 4 Pepperdine University on Sunday, October 22.
