BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former University of Michigan athlete Abby Andrews helped Australia claim Fourth Place at the 2025 Women’s Water Polo World Cup Division 1 Tournament on Tuesday-Sunday, January 14-19 in Alexandroupolis, Greece.

The event was a qualifier for the 2025 Water Polo World Cup Super Final with the top six finishers earning a spot in the April event.  A venue for the Super Final series remains to be determined.

She opened the tournament by scoring once in an 11-9 loss to the Netherlands on January 14 prior to accounting for three markers in a 15-6 dispatching of Israel on January 15.  Following a five goal outburst in a 12-8 victory over Italy on January 16, Andrews scored twice versus both Spain (14-11 L, January 17) and Greece (12-8 L, January 18) prior to Australia taking a 12-6 setback versus the Netherlands to claim Fourth Place.

Andrews, who helped Australia take the Silver Medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, competed for Michigan during the 2019 season and registered 57 goals, 71 assists and 47 steals with a 41-for-50 mark in sprints in the span of 32 games.  A member of the 2019 CWPA Champion Wolverines, she claimed CWPA Rookie of the Year and ACWPC Honorable Mention All-America honors during her lone season in Ann Arbor.  A 2019 CWPA All-Conference Second Team pick, she received Rookie of the Tournament and First Team All-Tournament recognition at the CWPA Championship prior to helping the Maize & Blue reach the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
