BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former University of Michigan athlete Abby Andrews is among 13 competitors named on Thursday, May 9, to the Australia women’s water polo roster for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics
Andrews competed for Michigan during the 2019 season and registered 57 goals, 71 assists and 47 steals with a 41-for-50 mark in sprints in the span of 32 games. A member of the 2019 CWPA Champion Wolverines, she claimed CWPA Rookie of the Year and ACWPC Honorable Mention All-America honors during her lone season in Ann Arbor. A 2019 CWPA All-Conference Second Team pick, she received Rookie of the Tournament and First Team All-Tournament recognition at the CWPA Championship prior to helping the Maize & Blue reach the NCAA Championship quarterfinals.
The women’s water polo competition will take place at the Paris Aquatic Centre (Preliminary rounds), and the Paris La Defense Arena (finals) from July 27-to-August 10.
The women’s water polo competition is a 10-team tournament. Australia will compete in Group A against the Netherlands, Canada, China and Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Hungary.
