ANN ARBOR, Mich. — All four University of Michigan water polo freshmen walked away with medals from the USA Water Polo National Junior Olympics this past weekend.

In the Platinum Division, Maddy Johnston and Maddie O’Reilly teamed up to lead 680 Water Polo to a gold medal. Their team defeated SOCAL Black A in the championship game by a score of 7-6. Over the weekend the team went undefeated with seven victories. Two of those were over SOCAL.

A bronze medal went to Brittany Prentice of SB 805 A. Prentice led her team to an 11-9 win over SET A in the third place game. Her team went 6-2 overall, losing to Johnston and O’Reilly in the semifinals by a 9-3 final score.

Emily Ritner led SOCAL Gold B to a 10-7 victory over SD Shores B for first place in the gold division. Ritner led her squad to a 6-2 overall record.

The Junior Olympics closed out the summer of competition for the incoming freshmen. They will travel to Ann Arbor at the end of the month.
