ERIE, Pa. — Jack Donnelly (Jr., Temecula, Calif./Chaparral), Drago Marjanovic (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia/North Allegheny (Pa.)), Brett Rehrer (Sr., Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills), Anthony Squeglia (So., Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and Thomas Squeglia (Jr., Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) of the Gannon University men’s water polo team garnered recognition as 2018-19 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes.

A student-athlete must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA or better to be named a Scholar-Athlete.

Overall, Gannon also set a new program best for the second year in a row, as 284 Gannon student-athletes were named Scholar-Athletes, besting the previous mark of 252 set last year. Gannon’s competitive cheer programs were not eligible for PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors.

In all, 284 of an eligible 503 student-athletes earned the honor for Gannon, giving the Knights the highest percentage of student-athletes on the Scholar-Athlete list at 56 percent. The average of 56.5 percent topped last year’s mark of 55.6 percent to also set a new Gannon program best. Gannon previously topped the conference in 2008-09 (46%), 2009-10 (46%), 2010-11 (45%), 2012-13 (48%), 2013-14 (47%), 2014-15 (49%) and 2017-18 (56%).

A new record of 3,117 PSAC student-athletes were named Scholar-Athletes this year, surpassing the previous record of 3,054 set last season.
