ERIE, Pa. — Looking to continue its upward trajectory under first-year head coach Shane Unger, the Gannon University men’s water polo team has announced its 2019 schedule.

The Golden Knights reeled off 19 consecutive wins to start the season and finished 20-1 overall last year, winning the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division II championship and setting a new program record for victories.

This season will open at Washington & Jefferson College on September 7-8 before returning to Erie for Mercyhurst University’s Laker Invitational the following weekend at the Hallman Aquatics Center.

Gannon will then get into Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) play on September 28-29, facing Connecticut College, Washington & Jefferson and Salem University at W&J. A trip to Monmouth, Ill., will wrap up league play on October 12-13, as the Knights face Mercyhurst, McKendree University and Monmouth College.

After the Penn State Behrend Invitational on October 19, postseason play kicks off with the CWPA Division II Championship, hosted by Salem in Salem, W. Va., on October 26-27.

Gannon will host the MAWPC-West Division Championship at the Hallman Aquatics Center on November 8-9. The winner of that tournament earns a bid to the MAWPC Championship on November 22-24 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
