BRIDGEPORT, Pa. —  Gannon University’s Jacob Hollo (So., Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) made five saves in the first half to pick up the win in a 26-5 victory over Mount St. Mary’s University in both programs’ season-opener.  For his efforts, Hollo is recognized as the January 25 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.

The sophomore goalie helped hold the Mount in check as Gannon built leads of 7-1 after the first quarter and 15-2 by halftime.

The 2019 MAWPC-West Rookie of the Year and Rookie of the MAWPC-West Championship tournament for helping anchor the Golden Knights to the division crown, Hollo is the first Golden Knights’ athlete to claim Defensive Player of the Week status since Brett Rehrer on October 15, 2018.
