PRINCETON, N.J. – Behind six different goal scorers, the George Washington University Revolutionaries made sure their stay in New Jersey ended on a winning note with a 13-10 defeat of Division III No. 4-ranked Chapman University after falling to No. 15 California Baptist University, 19-9, and No. 18 Harvard University, 16-9.
The team got out to a 4-2 lead after one quarter versus Chapman, sparked by tallies from grad student Mateus Stellet, junior center Leo Lueddemann, senior center Viktor Jovanovic and sophomore Peter Durkovic in the opening frame.
Chapman reversed the opening quarter score in the second, as the teams went into halftime knotted at six-all after Stellet found the goal again as did junior Andrija Sekulic.
GW put some distance between themselves and their foe in the third quarter, scoring five times while allowing three, as first-year Kai De Orbeta notched a pair, Jovanovic racked up two of his own and Lueddemann struck again.
Stellet put the game away in the fourth quarter with the Revolutionaries final two goals.
On Saturday, the Revolutionaires fell by 10 goals versus Cal Baptist.
The Lancers jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first quarter, but GW managed to keep things close at the half after an even three-all second frame. CBU started to take control of the game after outsourcing GW, 6-1, in the third quarter, and the Revolutionaries were not able to climb out of a 13-5 hole in the final quarter.
Sekulic and Jovanovic each contributed four goals on eight shots, while Patrick McCann netted his second goal of 2023.
