PRINCETON, N.J. — The George Washington University men’s water polo dropped games to St. Francis College Brooklyn, 18-13, and Brown University, 13-10, on Saturday, September 11, at the Princeton Invitational hosted by Princeton University at DeNunzio Pool.
In Saturday’s opener, the Terriers used a late surge to pull away from the Buff and Blue.
The teams went back and forth over the first three quarters with neither side leading by more than three goals. GW edged within 13-12 on Andras Levai‘s tally with 6:20 remaining before St. Francis Brooklyn responded by scoring five of the game’s final six goals to close out the victory.
Levai led the way vs. the Terriers with his five goals, while Nick Schroeder notched three goals and Andrija Sekulic scored twice.
Facing Brown, the Bears came out on top.
GW was within a goal late in the third quarter and went to the final period down 10-8 but could never get any closer from there. Brown scored with 2:13 remaining to restore its three-goal advantage with what turned out to be the game’s final tally.
Levai filled the stat sheet with two goals, an assist, three field blocks, two steals and an ejection drawn. Henry Maas and Viktor Jovanovic also netted two goals apiece vs. the Bears, while Antonin Kralj and DJ Davis both chipped in a goal and two assists.
