EMMITSBURG, Md. — The George Washington University men’s water polo earned a 12-11 road victory at Mount St. Mary’s University.

Antonin Kralj led the way with three goals, while Andrija Sekulic and Nick Schroeder chipped in two goals apiece to help the Buff and Blue edge the Mount in a Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East Region contest that was tight from start to finish.

GW trailed 7-6 following a Mount St. Mary’s goal 21 seconds into the second half before reeling off four straight scores to assert control. Schroeder scored both of his goals in the run, including the final tally that put the Buff and Blue up 10-7 with 3:12 left in the quarter.

Mount St. Mary’s kept the pressure on, twice closing within a goal coming down the stretch. After the Mount made it 11-10 with 1:11 to go, Kralj answered with a quick goal to restore the two-goal cushion.

The home team scored again with 28 seconds left, but the Buff and Blue were able to retain possession from there and run out the clock to secure the victory.

Kralj posted a complete stat line with an assist, a steal, a field block and two ejections drawn, in addition to his team-high goal total. DJ Davis netted a goal, three helpers and two steals, while Nik Schoening and Kalan Smith also found the net in a victory that improved the Buff and Blue to 5-2 in MAWPC play.

Luca Castorina tallied 15 saves to lead the defensive effort vs. Mount St. Mary’s.
