BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Alana Ponce (Fr., Gig Harbor, Wash./Gig Harbor) of George Washington University piled up 14 goals, seven assists, a field block and eight steals in a 3-1 weekend at the Bucknell University Bison Invitational to earn both the February 5 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player and tri-Rookie of the Week awards.

She is one of three players to earn Rookie of the Week accolades joining teammate Dara Bleiberg (Fr., Simi Valley, Calif./Royal) and Marialena Seletopoulou (Fr., Glyfada, Athens, Greece/Yannopoulos School) of Saint Francis University.  It marks the first time the league has awarded three nods for one weekly honor.

Facing a quartet of foes at the Bison Invitational, she put up a goal, an assist and three steals in an 18-8 defeat of Siena College prior to tallying eight goals, an assist, an ejection drawn and two steals in a 16-10 victory over Gannon University.  She concluded the weekend with a goal, three assists and a field block in an 11-8 setback against Bucknell before netting her second hat-trick with four goals, two assists, two steals and an ejection drawn in turning back Saint Francis by a 21-13 final score.
