BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Jacqueline Bywater (Sr., Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) of George Washington University nabbed a team-high 12 steals in four games at the Bucknell University Bison Invitational to earn recognition as the February 12 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.

Bywater, who finished the tournament with six goals, five assists and an ejection drawn, opened the weekend with a goal and three steals in an 18-8 defeat of Siena College prior to racking up two goals, three assists, five steals and an ejection drawn in a 16-10 victory over Gannon University on Saturday, February 10.

On Sunday, February 11, she chipped in three steals during an 11-8 loss to the host Bison of Bucknell to go along with three goals, two assists and a steal in a 21-13 win versus Saint Francis University.

The award completes a career trifecta for Bywater as she has now claimed the league’s Player, Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week awards dating back to her freshman season in 2015.  The February 16, February 23, March 9 and March 30 Rookie of the Week as a freshman in 2015, she previously claimed the February 23 and March 30 Player of the Week awards in 2015 along with February 20 and March 13 Player of the Week awards in 2017.
