BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Luca Castorina (Fr., Catania, Sicily/Liceo Galileo Galilei) totaled 43 saves in three games during a 1-2 weekend for the Colonials to earn laurels as the March 1 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Defensive Player of the Week.
Competing at the United States Naval Academy’s Scott Natatorium on Saturday-Sunday, February 27-28, Castorina appeared in all three contests.
On Saturday, February 27, he made 12 saves in a 16-12 loss to the No. 9-ranked/host Midshipmen prior to turning aside 17 shots in an 8-7 nail-biter against Bucknell University.
He concluded the weekend with 14 saves in a 9-8 defeat of La Salle University.
