BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Mackenzie Matheny (Fr., Melbourne, Australia/Lauritson Girls’ School) of George Washington University tallied 35 saves with 32 goals against during a 3-1 weekend for the Colonials at the Bucknell University Invitational. For her performance, she is named the February 10 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Defensive Player of the Week.
The first-year from Australia notched eight saves during an 11-4 loss to La Salle University and then piled up nine stops, plus two assists, in a 12-10 defeat of Salem University. She closed the weekend with a pair of nine-save efforts as GW stopped Saint Francis University (8-6 W) and Gannon University (12-5 W).
