BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — George Washington University’s Scarlett Hallahan (Jr., San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) and Jacqueline Bywater (Jr., Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) combined for 20 goals, 12 assists and 18 steals in a 4-0 weekend for the Colonials against Saint Francis University, Bucknell University, Grove City College and Siena College to share honors as the February 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I Player of the Week.
A three-time weekly honor recipient after previously taking the March 2 and March 16 Division I Rookie of the Week awards during the 2015 season, Hallahan recorded a hat-trick or better in three of GW’s games to finish with 12 goals, eight assists and two steals.
She opened the weekend with three goals, two assists and a steal in a 10-7 victory at Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pa. on Friday, February 17. Hallahan added nine goals, six assists and a steal with a pair of ejections drawn during the Mercyhurst University Invitational at the Prep-Villa Events Center in Erie, Pa.
She opened the tournament with three goals and three assists in a 9-7 defeat of Bucknell University, prior to putting up a goal and an assist versus Grove City College (17-4 W) and five goals with two assists, two ejections drawn and a steal in an 11-8 victory over Siena College.
Hallahan’s output complimented Bywater who chipped in eight goals, four assists and 16 steals with a field block over the same span.
A seven-time weekly honor recipient after previously taking six nods during the 2015 season (Player of the Week: February 23, March 30; Rookie of the Week: February 16, February 23, March 9, March 30), she registered three goals, one assist and five steals with an ejection drawn against Saint Francis prior to notching three goals, an assist, two ejections drawn and five steals versus Bucknell.
Following a one goal, three assist performance versus Grove City, Bywater concluded her weekend by tacking on a goal with two assists, three steals, an ejection drawn and a field block in stopping Siena.
