BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Greece utilized 5-3 and 5-2 scoring advantages in the second and third quarters, respectively, to outmatch Indiana University alumnae Jessica Gaudreault, Shae La Roche and the rest of the Canadian National Team, 19-10, in the Seventh Place game of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Canada – which previously placed Fifth (2000) and Seventh (2004, 2020/21) at the Olympics – led only once in the game by acquiring a 2-1 margin with 2:01 left in the first quarter.  Greece tied the score prior to the conclusion of the opening frame and pulled away in the second quarter by outscoring Canada 5-3 to gain a 7-5 lead by halftime.  Leading 12-7 at the conclusion of the third quarter thanks to a 5-2 outburst, the Greeks closed out the game with a 7-3 surge to wrap-up a nine-goal victory.

Canada – which previously faced Spain (18-8 L, August 6), the Netherlands (20-11 L, August 4), Hungary (12-7 L, July 29), the People’s Republic of China (12-7 W, July 31), Australia (10-7 L, August 2) and Italy (10-5 L, August 8) – received five saves-on-17 shots (five-of-10 action shots/zero-of-three center shots/zero-for-two man-up/zero-for-one penalty shots/zero-for-one counter attack) from Gaudreault who added a rebound in 24 minutes of work during the first-to-third quarters.

In seven games, she finished the Olympics with 58 saves on 138 shots with five steals.

La Roche did not compete for Canada in the game as she concludes the 2024 Olympics with three goals on 17 attempts with three field blocks, a steal and five rebounds.
