BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Rising sophomore center Maryanna Antoniou (Glyfada, Greece/Second General High School of Glyfada) helped Greece record a 2-4 mark at the Taipei Songshan Sports Center in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) to help her homeland claim a spot in the Ninth Place game at the 29th Summer Universiade/University Games.

The Greeks will next be in action on Monday, August 28, against the United Kingdom/Great Britain in the Ninth Place game.

Greece opened the tournament in Group B play on August 19 against Australia as the Aussies claimed a 10-3 victory.  Antoniou appeared in 8:54 of the game and shot zero-for-two.

Following a 15-5 loss to France on August 20 in which she competed in 14:03 of playing time without a statistic of note, Antoniou shot zero-for-one in 16:26 against Italy in a 14-3 loss on August 22.

Greece recorded its first victory on August 24 as Antoniou shot zero-for-one in 14:13 as the Greeks notched an 8-5 win versus Argentina.  Group B action concluded on August 25 as the United States topped Greece, 18-3, with Antoniou shooting zero-for-two in 19:55.

Facing New Zealand on August 26 in a Ninth/12th Place game, Antoniou scored once by connecting on one-of-two shots in 21:08 to punch Greece’s ticket to the Ninth Place game.
